In 2013 Arline Stepovich contacted San Jose Parks Foundation to see if the foundation could help the neighbors plant some roses in the park. This happened after a few years of severe budget cuts that left many parks with less maintenance staff. Almaden Winery Neighborhood Association (AWNA) became an exemplary group that chose to take the life and well-being of its park into their own volunteer hands. Since that time, the fund has been restored and the roses and general foliage has been maintained. This fund seeks to keep that tradition going.
